MedEl Fully Implanted CI

Austrian hearing implant manufacturer MED-EL has launched TICI UNICO, which it describes as the first commercially available fully implantable cochlear implant. Unlike a conventional cochlear implant, it has no external audio processor to wear behind or on the ear; its microphone, electronics, rechargeable battery, and other components are all placed beneath the skin.

Full implantation under the skin offers exceptional cosmetic advantages as well as the advantage of benefiting from the device 24/7. A recipient can hear while sleeping, showering, swimming, or charging the implant—times when a conventional external processor is usually removed.

Reclaim the Groove
Hearing loss can rob us of many things, not least enjoyment of music. Even as listening technology helps us improve sound perception, our ability to enjoy or feel music may remain impacted.
But perception of the rhythmic aspects of music remains even with a severe/profound hearing loss.
We can build upon this strength to progress in other listening areas.

Reclaim the Groove for Music and Movement is a unique interactive workshop that explores aspects of hearing. Join us for fun in an accessible environment. Snacks and Socializing after this inspiring presentation
